Together with the European Union, the RAS is working with the mobile operators Tim, Tre, Vodafone and Wind, to improve mobile coverage in remote areas. Since not covered areas are in economically unattractive areas (low population density), these projects are financed by the European Union and the European Fund For Rural Development.
Coverage of rural areas with mobile and broadband services
Mobile telephony and data service – project 2009
In 2009 the first project for the supply with mobile telephony and data services started in following areas:
- Jaufental
- Pfunders
- Schlinig
- the ski resort Klausberg and Speikboden in Ahrntal
Mobile telephony and data service – project 2015
Currently, the RAS is working again in cooperation with the European Union and the mobile operators to cover the following areas:
- Matschertal
- Fennberg
- the ski resort Schwemmalm in Ultental
- Rabenstein and Timmelsjoch
