What does DVB-T2 mean?

It stands for the successor standard to DVB-T (Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial) and is the second generation of digital terrestrial television.

Can DVB-T2 be received over the existing antenna system?

How can I search the DVB-T/T2 channels in the television or receiver?

First, a channel search should be carried out (usually under: Menu/Settings/Channel search/Automatic/Start/Save/OK/Exit). After the programs that have been read in have been saved, they can be sorted according to their order (under: Menu/Settings/Sort programs or create a favorites list).

Will hearing films in DVB-T/T2 also be transferred for blind people and visually impaired people?

Yes, the transmission through the stereo sound and the audiodescription linked with it is possible with DVB-T/T2. It is still the respective program supplier to chose whether it offer this service or not.

Can I receive DVB-T/T2 also in the car?

Yes, provided that the broadcasting net is laid out for it and you dispose of a suitable DVB-T/T2 receiver unit in the car.

What can I do if I no longer receive the RAS programs?

  • Check with a neighbor whether it works there
  • Briefly disconnect the television from the mains and switch it on again after about a minute
  • Carry out a new automatic or manual search on the television
  • Possibly reset the television to the factory settings (caution: deletes all previous lists including the settings) and start a new channel search

Is it possible to receive "Dolby Digital" via DVB-T/T2?

Yes, the digital AC3 format (with five audio channels) will also be broadcast if it is included in the program and desired.

Why do I sometimes hear no sound on various DVB programs?

This is just a setting thing. In the menu under settings, audio, select stereo or sound mode 1 (or A) and save it. If this doesn't help, it might be necessary to disable "Dolby Digital AC3". Some devices have a dedicated audio button on the remote control for these options.

Are there programs in DVB-T2 in South Tyrol?

After a test phase, no DVB-T2 programs are currently being broadcast.

What does HDR mean in DVB-T/T2?

HDR (High Dynamic Range) stands for a higher color contrast display (the overall picture appears more brilliant and detailed). A distinction is made between HDR8, HDR10 and HDR10+ (corresponding to: 256,1024 and 4096 levels).

What should I look out for when buying a new UHD/4K TV with terrestrial and satellite reception?

This should be equipped with a current tuner with DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 including the video codec H265 (also called HEVC or MPEG5).

What does HD, Full HD, UHD or 4K mean for DVB-T/T2?

HD means "High Definition" and has an image resolution of 1920×1080 pixels (corresponds to "Full HD" and 2.1 megapixels). UHD is four times the resolution of Full HD and corresponds to an image with 8,294,400 pixels (3840 x 2160). Colloquially, the term 4K (which is actually used for digital cinemas "DCI") is used for various "Ultra High Definition" products. Technically, however, 4K and UHD are not exactly the same. The following information represents the different 4K resolutions: "native 4K" (4096 x 2160 = 8,847,360 pixels), "widescreen standard 4K" (3996 x 2160 = 8,631,360 pixels) and "anamorphic standard 4K" (4096 x 1716 = 7,028,736 pixels).

What is HbbTV in DVB-T/T2?

HbbTV stands for "Hybrid Broadcasting Broadband TV" and means that it is possible to offer various new types of services and information on the television via the "Red Button" (such as: video on demand, weather, recipes, news, shopping opportunities, advertising , real-time voting, interaction with social networks and popular websites). A suitable device and an Internet connection (WLAN/LAN) are required for this function.
