Since 1974 RAS has worked together with the public networks ORF, ZDF, SRG and ARD who have allowed the free transmission of their programs in the South Tyrol area.
The signal for these programs are carried from their original area through the receiving station Patscherkofel and Hohe Scheibe (Sarntal) to the main station Penegal and from here they are distributed country-wide.

The transmission is carried out isochronous and unchanged; that means that for example all transmitters of the program ORF 1 at South Tyrol can be seen at the same time and with the same context like in Austria.
According to the RAS/RAI agreement of 1975, we have reciprocal availability and use of infrastructure which allows us to reduce costs. Also the transmitter network planing could be alleviated.

The RAS stations can also be used for other public services, such as emergency, police, mobile phones etc.
Since 1994, RAS in collaboration with RAI and ORF, have been running the inter-regional exchange of programs between South Tyrol, Tyrol, Trentino and Vorarlberg through our microwave link.

At the request of the Province and in agreement with the Ministry of Communications, RAS has realised 1999 the pilot project "Mut", the first project in Italy to unite both private and public transmissions on the same infrastructure.

In collaboration with RAI, Bayerischem Rundfunk and the Ministry of Communications, RAS has implemented 1999 the DAB pilot-project.
