Inauguration and opening of the common transmitting station of the RAS in Naturns

Broadcasting Company South Tyrol has put into operation in the presence of the President of the provincial government Dr.Luis Durnwalder and the mayor of Naturns Dr. Walter Weiss the new and common transmitting station of the RAS in Naturns. The blessing of the station has been made by Reverend Sir Georg Peer.

The RAS-President Helmuth Hendrich referred in his welcoming speech to the fact that the RAS is since years convinced about the principle of the construction of common transmitting stations and has pressed forward with consequence in accordance with the national and international norms, but also of the legal basis of the legislation of the Province.

The President of the provincial government Dr. Luis Durnwalder underlined in his speech the interest of the Province for a large supply with the different services of communication and therefore there is given priority to promote buildings of common transmitting stations protecting the health of the people, the landscape and the regional planning.
South Tyrol must keep abreast of the new technologies, which are in phase of transformation in Europe, without loosing sight of the local necessities and requirements.

From this station is foreseen the transmitting of the radio and television programmes of the public services RAS and RAI and different private broadcastings (Radio Grüne Welle, Canale 5, Italia 1, Rete 4, Videobolzano 33). Moreover it is necessary for the broadcast services of the Province (Mountain Rescue Service, Forest Service, White Cross, Civil Defence) Carabinieri and Police and also for the mobile telephone Omnitel, TIM and Wind.

The transmitting station has been realized by the provincial council of Bozen.

A unique transmitting tower for all the services of communication presents first of all two advantages: first the one of the technology of the broadcasting, second the one of the town-planning and landscape. The building of common infrastructures makes the realization of more towers superfluous and reduces a lot the interventions in the landscape.
