System of information of the people (SIP)
To quickly inform people in case of catastrophes the administration
of the province South Tyrol has introduced a "system
of information for the people", which gives the office
of the civil protection the possibility to interrupt the
radio programmes to communicate or insert into the television
programmes a short message .
Also the RAS in addition to other broadcastings has been
engaged with this system to reach therefore with his 113
transmitting stations nearly 98% of the population. Together
with the warning sirens of the civil protection, information
and ways of behaviour for the interested people are given by
radio or TV.
There follows a short description of the ways of working
of the SIP in the network of the RAS.
The alarms in the form of short bilingual
messages from
the fire department and the Centre of information about traffic
are registered on a PC.
In the case the text programmed by the computer is transmitted
by radio to the main transmitting station of the RAS, which
is named Penegal. From here the message is transmitted as "writing
insert" to the television programmes ORF1,
ORF2, ZDF, ARD and SF1 and all the broadcasting network.
